How well I know.
I have a pair of them on my '61 that the previous owner installed sometime in the mid-60's (when they cost 4 or 5 bucks each). The one on the right fender is totally useless. |

That pretty much sums up ours (which also came on the car). No way to adjust it when you're driving and if you spend the required time to bob your head back and forth to find a side view in the 3 inch mirror (which looks more like 1 inch because it's waaaay down the fender) you can easily veer off course and into the left lane! I've taken to just sticking my head out the window and seeing first hand whether there's someone on my right. Much easier! _________________ RIP HBB (1984-2009)

Lawn Ninja, your '63 has come a long way! Love how you stripped the paint on the roof! _________________ RIP HBB (1984-2009)

Thanks guys, I'm super stoked to have the car together and running. I've got a list a mile long of the things I want to do to it now. I like the white roof too, I have to finish up the pillars though, I ran out of stripper and I didn't have time to finish it before the classic. _________________ Jason

Hello! I'm new to this forum and to Karmaan Ghias. Here is my 1971 Karmaan Ghia! Just picked it up yesterday. I've owned many, many classic cars and trucks, but this is my first old VW. I presently drive a 2014 Jetta, and my last two cars were a 2012 Jetta tdi and a 2009 GTI.

Thank you very much! The person from whom I bought the car is actually mailing me the filler lid. haha He meant to put it in the car but we both forgot. Thanks for the link to the lid, though! If something happens I don't actually receive it in the mail soon, I know where I can find one. |

Welcome! that's a nice looking Ghia. Maybe I'll see you around? There's a VW show/ swap meet in October at the fairgrounds, not a whole bunch of Ghia parts in particular Last year - but a good time for sure _________________ 1973 karmann ghia - current, not the last VW.

Early 1957 low light. 3 owners. Delivered in Paris, back to Leavenworth, Washington in 1960 for the balance of it's life. HOG did the pans in the early 90s. Original carte, manuals, owners documentation and trip logs. Time for a complete restoration. Originally Trout Blue with two tone interior.

Nice looking ghia you got there Neal. I am guessing that you want to take it back to trout blue, but are you going to leave it slammed or take it back to stock? Either way I am sure it will look good |
