The one thing I saw that was off with this build is an fk8 cam paired with heads that have HD ( presumed single springs). Please double check it. Single springs with an fk8 cam is a folly alone. 71 bus and type 1 engine? I thought 68 or 69 was last type 2 set up? Make sure it has 3 bolt carrier bosses if that style. _________________ 2276 IDA's 86C 11-1 DD !

71 is the last year of the type 1 engine in a bus. That motor is begging for a pair of 40 idf's _________________ There are no stupid questions, only stupid people,

fk8 will work with single or duel. but I doubt it is what you want in a bus with a small engine like that and the heads I would think have duel springs but the springs may not work with the 1.4&fk8 but they should. but still thats not a buss engine....depending on what you want to do with it of corse |

lose the chrome shit, and the thin wall 92's are not ideal for a bus. The Kadrons are not suited for that combo..
The price may be right but the combination is all wrong. Thick wall 92's, ported stock valve heads, different cam and carbs would be a great bus motor. |

Why would anybody use thin walled 92's anymore? Just silly. _________________ Good things come to those who wait.

That would be a good engine for a sandrail or Dunebuggy to play around in, but totally wrong for a heavy Bus. _________________ 2017 Street Comp Champion - Thunder Valley Raceway Park - Noble, OK

Mag 44 big valve machine honed heads with HD springs. CB 044 MAGNUM HEADS ARE GOOD...WHAT VALVE SIZES?
Machined heads and case spigots.
Dual oil relief German low mileage case. PERFECT.
Forged 92mm barrels and pistons. ASSUME MAHLE, SINCE YOUR RINGS ARE MAHLE? CONFIRM WITH SELLER.
Teflon wrist pin buttons, cc'd heads, deck height double-checked. CONFIRM THE CR?
Mahle rings.
New bearings/seals/shims throughout.
Racer Spacer installed.
New cam plug installed.
Gene Berg forged straight-cut timing gears. GOOD PRODUCT.
HD/HF Melling cast steel oil pump. ITS OKAY, BUT SOMETIMES THEY LEAK. ALUMINUM PUMP MIGHT BE BETTER IN A BUS (EG. SCHADEK).
New push rod tubes.
Under head cool tin. STOCK DEFLECTORS, REAR TIN, ETC, WOULD BE BETTER THAN "COOL TINS".
Engle Fk8 cam. A BIT MUCH FOR A BUS, BUT LIFT IS NOT EXCESSIVE.
1.4:1 forged ratio rockers. CHECK FOR ACTUAL RATIO...SOME SPEC OUT MUCH HIGHER.
Dual Kadron carburettors with Scat adjustable linkage and cross bar. GREAT BUS CARBS. MIGHT NEED VENTURI SWAP TO MATCH ENGINE BETTER.
Shorty aluminum intake manifolds.
Bosch Blue coil with aluminum off-set mount to clear Scat carburettor linkage.
Chromed cylinder head tin.
Original German dual port fan shroud. DOGHOUSE IS TOP NOTCH.
Bosch 009 distributor with full tune-up, side ways outlet distributor cap, and finned aluminum sleeve. CHINESE 009 OR BOSCH GERMAN/BRAZILIAN?
Vented aluminum fuel pump black-off plate.
Electric fuel pump.
Finned aluminum Gene Berg Oil filler/breather tower. GOOD PRODUCT.
Aluminum crank pulley.
Aluminum generator backing plate.
Chromed generator pulley with aluminum insert.
Chromed aluminum generator mounting stand.
Chromed dip stick. |
Depending on the price, there are some good parts in this engine. As others have noted, the combination is not quite what most would build for a bus, but you could make some mods if the price is right. How much is it selling for? _________________ Neil.
