I was cleaning up the pop out window latches and the fues box cover and noticed some westy tan paint on them. I got a little excited knowing that theses pieces were on the bus from day one. I hope im not the only one that gets excited about stuff like this.

Just love how some people will Knock down a restoration for being less slovenly that the original. Those pix prove how half assed Westfalia was.on some elements of the conversion. _________________ Go Reds! Smash state!

Preservation is the hardest part of any project.
I had to be extra careful not to ruin the history of this bus.
You are doing an excellent job Paul! I can't wait for Bulli! _________________ Looking for SO34 parts.

A few updates on the interior.
I did not want to drill new holes in the doors or long panel, so I decided to buy a hole finder. This tool was worth every penny.
I purchased a set from Northern Tool, I think I paid $34 for the set shipped.
It worked great.
here is the front cargo door panel installed - I am dry fitting them before I apply the finish.
Rear cargo door panel
I also installed the wood blocking - Again I am test fitting and then removing and sealing the wood.

Do the door cards paint tan like the interior metal?

Started working on rebuilding the front bench, between gluing and clamping the trim pieces to the plywood, I would work on fitting the panels in the bus.
Here is a few progress pics.
Here are the original pieces of wood blocking and the new set we made. I plan on sealing the new set before final installation.
The table hinges with the original westy tan paint
The long panel wood blocking
I was getting tired of woodwork, so I decided to touch upnsome interior westy tan paint

Thanks for the info on the hole finder Paul, I need one for my front panels.
I should have ordered my panels from Clara predrilled. |
I do not offer the door cards pre-drilled as most do not have standard hole placement. The cab door panels do not have standard screw placement. 23 screws were used per cab door, but slightly different placement for each bus.
(except for the clip holes for cab door panels 12/63-67, which I do offer pre-drilled)
Cargo doors have standard hole placement from the factory, but I found that there are (at least) three different versions of the factory holes.
Yes, that hole finder is a great tool. _________________ The Obsolete Air-Cooled Documentation Project http://oacdp.org/ |

The funny thing is.. last Saturday i noticed tan paint on my childs cot brackets and said to myself... NO.. cant be.. Wouldnt you think they would have taken the brackets off before they painted the inside... Now i see they didn't at all.. love this stuff!! _________________ ***WANTED***

Subhatch is in.
Got the tent poles painted and tent sawn up. Very excited with the results so far.
