X2, rear reflector indents, spare tire shelf hook perches, gas tank perch and look at the fact that there is no separation cross panel above the taillights from one corner panel to the other for where the decklid hinges and the tailgate is on a non-barndoor.
Better go get more parts!! People would pay good money for whatever you can drag out of there. I can't believe how nice those parts are that you got!

Well I thought it was older than '58 ish, but that is cool.
Does this mean I have to go back and dig out the frame?

I mean, unless you hate making easy money!!! Then by all means, don't. I'm sure someone else would love that money you left in the woods. _________________ Formerly known in the forums as "OVALTEEN"

Looks BD to me but I don't consider myself the expert. I'd keep those coordinates to yourself, get a buddy and go grab some shovels!!! _________________ EMPI Power Rules! |

The problem with that, is that the frame is under a trail in a Provincial Recreation area. Unless we snuck in under the cover of darkness with a backhoe and got it done before anyone saw us, the powers that be would stop us.
That is more work than I am prepared to do. Coordinates are free for who wants it.

Yes, I agree, Barndoor corners.
Later front bumper though.
I don't know if the frame is worth the trouble unless someone needs it.
It looks like it has the original battery strap?
If it's re-usable I would buy that, I don't have an original one for my Bus.

The Bus is about 150 yards below an old established logging road. It probably crashed there and has been robbed for decades. The cedars around it have about a 12" diameter, so it's been there for a long time.
I have to go back there this weekend as I had no room for the corners and left them at a friends place in the area. I will go back armed with better bug spray. I will dig what I can away from the frame to inspect it a bit more. I will also survey the area better, now that I know it was a BD.

I've been wondering that too, just forgot to ask. Maybe an old timer in the area knows. |

The southern interior of BC was a haven for draft dodgers, plenty of abandoned older buses if you look hard enough, the easy to find ones are long gone, but the over the edge of the logging road on a Saturday night ones that got eaten up by the forest are still lurking.

I am sifting through images of Barn door parts to see if I recognize any other bits that where there. Turns out a piece that I grabbed, that honestly did not look very VW, but was in very good shape, was the spare tire support tray.
The way this is going, perhaps this thread needs to be moved to either BD forums, or bus hunting?
