|
|
I got a 67 that keeps dying on me when I put it in neutral. I was driving along just fine and couple minutes in I put it in neutral and the rpms dropped quickly. I pumped the throttle to keep it alive but it just wanted to keep dying on me. When in gear it drove a little funky too. Lately it's been having problems with getting into gear, physically putting the shifter into gear if I am at a stop. I don't know if there is a connection or not. Going to study up tonight. Any help is appreciated! |

Could be running to lean. I had that issue on my 67. Putting it in gear issues could be a worn/out of adjustment clutch cable or a shifter link bushing. |

can you start it in neutral? or only in gear? and i think you should have someone turn it on and put it in neutral and check if you can see anything physically move when it shuts off. just some ideas. |

When was the last tune up. These old cars need some loving.
Valve gap .006
Points gap .016 or approx 50% dwell
Timing, I like 28 BTDC at max advance.
That always perks mine right up. |

It sounds like you have two distinct problems - one is a carb that won't idle right and the other is a clutch that is out of adjustment. _________________ 71 Ghia Coupe - stock body - no rust! Powered by a 2110 W/Dual HPMX 44's - Rancho Pro Street Transaxle - A/C by Gilmore
