Bob, Here's a photo I captured of your Hebmuller around 1977 .
Possibly returning from a Porsche show in San Diego.

So a '47 is worth a Split Sunroof and 2 Two Hebs!!
Do you know which 2 Hebs they had?
Wow! Bill Neuman is the guy next to the Heb wearing the Blue overalls. Sadly, he passed away in early 2014. But in 2005, I purchased (& still own) his 1947 Beetle. He told me a story of how he and his brother (Gene) wanted the earliest VW they could find. They traded a 1950 sunroof & a pair of Hebs to acquire the '47 from a guy in Idaho. Their adventure was chronicled in a late '70s issue of Hot VWs |
Bill owner Heb #6 or #7 and #13. If I recall correctly, the earlier Heb was either traded to or purchased from a Dentist |

Hi kdf38
In May of 1976, I got together the only three Hebmullers that were in San Diego at the time . . .

Here is a photo of Hebmuller 14-00012 and 14-00013 as found around 1973 near Laguna Beach, CA.
A Dr. bought them new in Germany for him and his wife and later brought them to USA.
The Hebmullers were sold together in an auction around 1973.

Heb nr 12.. hmm BOB, I wonder if it is realy heb nr 12. Why. In a book on VW from a certain Collin , there is an aufbau plate pict with Maurey Coley's car. The strange thing is , if this is indeed from car 12... is made 30th of march 1949. ... and The body nr is 118-000012. Under the se. cond 1 in front is a 4, the 8 is partial over the - mark and the 2 at the end is added... Heb nrs are 14-00xxx, not 14-000xxx. I need to check that car or get some detailed picts of the body...
The engine cover shows pressed corners like the first Proto.... Hmmm... think about that. _________________ Zelensis, glassfibre body made in Belgium , disigned and built on a VW platform About 25 body's built.

Hi Peter,
The first time I saw Hebmuller 14-00012 . . was at Maurey Cole's garage back around 1975.
I think there was something strange about the Hebmuller number, as I remembered, at the time.
I know there are more detailed photos but they are lost forever as they are in the HEBMULLER Bible held secret by Yan Rami _________________ Hacksaw BoB

I hope one day, we can solve that issue about the photo's and info . About the nr 12, there is indeed something strange on it. It is , except on the red proto nr 4 that was seen on Bad Camberg 2011 show, the only other heb with pressed corners for the licence plate on the engine cover. _________________ Zelensis, glassfibre body made in Belgium , disigned and built on a VW platform About 25 body's built.

In the beginning, Bill Pickering and I had special dash plaques made.
These dash plaques were given to the owners who brought their Vintage VW to the meeting.
I wonder how many of them are still around

Bob, Do you remember the original Vintage VW Club of America metal plaque similar to this design?

Hi Ivan,
YES, I designed the artwork for the badge.
I had them made out of zinc metal and finished them with the black relief.
I think I made about 200 of them and they did not have the EST. 1976 lettering.
They were 3 inches in diameter.
