OK, my good friend the Blue Baron informs me that he bought his Split Window VW that was in attendance at the 1979 Bad Camberg meeting.
I had just arrived in Germany to work just the week before and did not have a camera or know what to expect for this 1st Bad Camberg Vintage VW show.
Anyway, Blue Baron found out that his newly acquired Split VW, back then, was at the Bad Camberg show and this same Split VW, years later,
I rode in it with the Blue Baron 2 years ago to a car show in Tampa FL
So if anyone attended the 1979 Bad Camberg Show and took some photos . . . please post them to see if the Blue Baron can spot his Split Window VW . . .

This is the Chris Barber article from the Dec. '79 issue of VW & Porsche magazine.
The PO told me he drove it to the meet, but I have no photos of the car there and would like to find some.

I bought a lottery ticket in the hopes that I too may someday own a VW like this.

Thank you, Don.
Here I am with the car re-enacting a classic VW ad.

Thank you for posting the link to your album!
I don't see my car. The only photo it could be is the view out the back window!
Here are two photos taken less than a year after the 1979 Bad Camberg meet. The car could be identified by the heart taillights, missing rear bumper guards and round horn grill, instead of the horn on the bumper. It also had darker gray bumpers and rims.
The previous owner said he found a pile of NOS split bumpers in a junkyard near Stuttgart, and he brought them to the meet. He said Heinz-Willi Lotterman paid him $25 each for them, and he couldn't believe they were worth so much. _________________ We are striving for perfection, to make our cars run forever, if possible.

Hi. Can see it’s an old thread. But the topic interests me also. My grandpa took part of that meeting with his 50 beetle. And won a trophy there. So pictures from that show are very interesting
