|
|
FINALLY! Received my certificate in the ail today. I originally filed for it in November, 2014, so that is 8 1/2 months! Is that any kind of record for longest wait?
ID # 2 114 xxx
Model 117 with sunroof
Motor 30 DIN
Color L335 Capri Blue
Upholstery material Blue/ Grey
Built 3 October 1958
Left Factory 7 October 1958
Destination Essen Germany
Options M 158 Upholstery material cloth
M 157 Cannot be identified
The numbers on the Samba must be the last number of the month, I had thought my car was an September build.
So glad the wait is over!
Bruce

It might not be a record, but now I wonder if a friend's car is a close cousin to yours. It's identical in equipment, and an early '58 build. I'll try to compare VINs the next time I see his. What a great color and year.
Yup, the Samba chart is exactly as published from VW. I guessed first week of Oct. from your VIN, before noticing it's birthdate on your post.
I'm curious is M 157 is some sort of engine callout for export models. If your engine is original- it may be helpful to have it's number posted. _________________

hightest: The story I got from the PO was that the OG engine went bad early on and it was replaced with another at the dealer. The engine I now have is 2 614 836 which is as close as I have been able to find for it.
Now if I could only find some Oct 58 wheels!

One little ray of hope: It's perfectly acceptable to go back a month or two in rim date. _________________

hitest: interesting about your friend, I bought my car off the Samba last year. The PO lived in Boise; could it be the same car?

It's not the same car- but I also don't recall any capri cars from here having a sunroof. You may have snuck a neat one out of our fair valley!
When will we see a before picture in your gallery sir? _________________

If you search meefermadness photos in the gallery the first 7 pictures are of the car. It came 100% disassembled, so it has been quite a project finding all the pieces. The good thing is that it is near totally rust free and a numbers matching car! I should be ready for paint sometime this month.

Thanks Bruce- I should have clarified. I checked your gallery but was surprised to not see a whole, before picture. Pretty gutsy buying a project! Looking good. _________________

Time to contact them and ask why. They are very helpful if you call or email. |

Hop? As in hops? Like the ingredient of beer? As in, for those still waiting, have some more beers? |

I emailed Roswitha Hendel on July 22nd. She replied about 3hrs later. She informed me that both my certificates were mailed out July 21st. Finally received them both today. So for those keeping track, ordered Oct 8th 2014. Received July 27th, 2015
