I replaced all wheel brake cylinders, and all the brake hoses, and then bled the brakes of my 1965 Bug, 7 times Crying or Very sad . Yep, bad master cylinder. So Sunday I plan on replacing the master cylinder with a 1967 dual circuit master cylinder. Very Happy

Hubby and I drove our 1962 Turkis ragtop to northern WI and back on this beautiful day. 290 total miles and averaged 60mph and 28mpg on the stock 40hp.

I pulled the plug and will drain the oil overnight. Will pull the strainer out and give it a good cleaning tomorrow.

Probably will also adjust the brakes and investigate a possible rear bearing noise.

front upper and lower ball joints done on my new 67 this weekend. believe they were original ones, ended up needing a 12ton press and a jaw puller to remove camber adjusters.

I finally got around to adding additional padding to my driver's seat. Bought 1" foam padding from JoAnn's fabric and just added it to what was already there., taking off the seat cover and reinstalling them were real easy. I had to use a couple of self tapping screws to secure the seat cover, most of my tabs were already broken. I also learned the seat covers I currently have are from TMI.

deemed my modified trailing arms are shot. passenger side upper arm bends out to much causing positive camber. met a air cooled guy through a buddy, he is hooking me up with some free arms!

I did what has become a weekly tradition. I wake up early Sunday morning drive my 74 bug out and grab coffee and a biscuit. I proceed for a leisurely cruise of about 30 to 40 miles and often stopping by a flea market. This week I found a genuine vw dealership wiring repair kit complete with all the terminals and splices. Ambient temps here running mid to upper 90s high humidity. Car still running cool.

Finally, after 20 years of it being in the garage and me slowly collecting parts, I have gotten my 64 Bug to a restoration shop! I had taken it down to bare metal as much as I could, but as you can see it has now been blasted and is sitting in it's first coat of Epoxy Primer! YES YES YES! I have already restored the pan, just have to get it put together now! Took all of my screws to be blasted. I wish I would have labeled them 20 years ago better, took a long time figuring out most of them!

Wow, having a project sit for 20 years and finally having the time/funds to finish must feel great. Are the pros doing a complete restore or just the paint and body work? Are you having it resprayed in the original color? Keep posting updates, it should be showroom new once finished and a real gem.

You are so right, as it does feel Great! I have collected tons of NOS parts as well as a complete set of correct seat covers! The shop is just doing the paint and the little body work left! And yes, original color Java Green single stage to keep it og as possible! I'm moving forward so I will keep posting progress! Now I'm heading to get the pan ready that was painted like 16 years ago! Numbers matching as well as a numbers matching engine!

Finally finished off assembling all of the brake components. Filled the master cylinder reservoir, attached my $6 one man bleeder and all the brakes came to life. I expected a long process to get all the air out but almost immediately fluid went to all corners and the pedal came up firm!
Took 5 wheels to the sandblaster, picked them up today. Stopped by the body shop and we will be ready for paint sometime in August.
