I'm in the process of making a fab table to get the beam mounted perfect. I wanted to ask if any dual sport owners have a measurement of how far their beam is mounted from the nepolean hat? I kept the stock frame head and was planning on measuring that for distance and adding whatever distance th 8* castor would add when kicking out the bottom tube.
I also read that the Manxter proprietary beam set up, sold on the Manx site says that it is 2" farther forward.
If anyone has a reference for this distance it would be very helpful. Thanks. |

Taking a quick measurement mine is approx. 14in between the napoleon hat part to inside of the lower beam tube.
With 2 1/4 front arms and 3x3 rear arms, depending on where you measure the wheel base in the suspension cycle, mine is at 99 inches at it furthest.
If you use 4in longer front arms it will be different. _________________ Joseph

Had to modify the rear support frame to accommodate the subarugears transmission.
Fit up went well

That sorted it was on to the radiator mount.
First cardboard, then prototype scrap metal then onto design.
Cut
Bent and dimple died
In place

Looking good I like the modifications you made to the rear to clear the Subaru Bell Housing. Have you had an engine and clutch slave on it to make sure they clear as well ?
Did you setup the engine and radiator fan when you did your install / Mock up ?
The reason I ask is that on the Silver DualSports the fan sat very close to the intake manifold and if I had of made it a 5 Speed conversion it would have hit. It did have a 10 degree kit on it but it might be worth checking on your setup before you go to far.

I am still sourcing my parts with the priority of fabrication related items coming first. I still need the motor which I hope to get later this week, I also need to get the fan and fan shroud. Truth told the majority of my money has managed to go twords tools to support the build.
I moved the rear support up 3" so I hope it will clear. Also as far as fitment goes, I have my fingers crossed. |

I wanted to thank everyone that contributed ideas to my other post about pan Rotisseries. I decided to chop mine up and square them off so it would make things easier. That done I got the pan on it and started welding the flanges that the exoskeleton will weld too ( thanks zancat). Time to finish all the pan welding and clean up all the unnecessary crap inside the tunnel. After that is sorted I can mount the cage and body and start to finish the side intrusion bars and finally the exoskeleton. getting better at welding too.

It's been a few months since your last post.
You must be done by now..

Not even close to done. Dealing with family medical issues has been my focus for the past several months. Can wait to get back to it though.
Couple pics of where it sits now.

Looking good. Your work looks great.
What kind of spring rate are you using in the rear? _________________ Joseph

I am not sure how to calculate spring rate. To be honest I am going to have a long learning curve when it comes to spring/ shock set up. Both springs are #250 on a 12" fox 2.0 shock. I'm hoping I'm in the ball park at least. _________________ Manxter DS #32

FOA shocks have on their website, directions to their app for setting up spring rates.
I have not used it, but was recommended by others that have. _________________ Joseph

I wish. I could use a second pair of hands. I've been working on all of the interior placement stuff. Creating a lot of tabs and brackets. Nothing exciting really. _________________ Manxter DS #32

I don't know why everyone doesn't convert to a Mini Cooper handbrake. 100 times nicer.
