I need help determining what is missing from the bottom of my steering column tube. Does anyone know where I can look at an exploded view. There is no bearing, bushing, or tube retainer of any sort. When the column is removed, the tube is pushed away from the turn signal switch by the force from the spring. I will basically fall down the shaft.

There is nothing on the BOTTOM of the steering column tube except the electrical tab for the horn wire.

There is only one bearing - and it's at the top.

The bits between the steering wheel and the bearing:

The bearing assembly that presses into top of the column tube:

Hope that helps.

Wolfsburg West catalog has a pretty good illustration...

Do you have a rubber bushing in the firewall? #37 is what holds the lower end of the column...

The upper end is held by the stock steel strap that clamps down on bushing #36

You need a #57 in the middle too...

NOTE ; the colum has to be insulated at the top and bottom or the horn will never shut off .
