Yes i have small battery and headlights, alum buckets, go kart staring wheel, alum coloum, .060 alum floors, lightened front suspension arms and beam, .050 alum in rear to replace fiberglass,3"of windshield gone, and very light gauges, .060 DOM tubing used for chassie. Used short rear torsion and single spring plates, lighten trailing arms, and small torsion tube. I do think it needs a cage and will make alum top for it. The wheels and brakes I bet are at least 100 lbs. over. There may be a bad scale a gravel store I went to?

You're on the right track.

Less unsprung weight improves ride and handling. Lighter wheel and tires improves ride, handling, acceleration, and braking. Road racers and autocrossers know this.

some disc are heaver than others.I have 2 sets of rears for 4 bolt.(empi on the car now,the other set I got to drill for 5 bolt not empi) they look about the same but one set is way heaver. I may do some lightning at some point. I already put the set on the car on a break lathe and machined them concentric. the casting's were not centered with the splines&bolt pattern .But I also have some light units to go on to my 356 so....why bother Shocked
if I were racing itwould be diferent situation, but Im not so.....it's justa bug.

aluminum rollbar painted with this new magnetic paint Shocked just kidden, all kinds of shit will stick to that paint coming up off the road. Rolling Eyes I think if you just add some weight as in a set of hpmx 44's and tune it right you wont need a diet.

I was shocked when I weighed my super beetle at the race track and it was just under 1700 without me. I have removed some weight but it has 4 wheel disc's, larger sway bars, strut and truss bars, bigger engine, nice sound system, larger battery.....

Sounds like the track scales are off. Unless your car is a gutted race car.
Try weighing it at a DOT scale on the freeway.

Yeah I bet they are off too, my car might be a bit lighter than a stock super but not that much.
