Howdy, I come here with a quick question about older style exhaust. I have seen many vw bugs running stingers but they are just too loud when the baffles are out, but when you put them in, they lose power and don't sound all too good. Has anyone ever used one of the porsche 356/912 racing megaphone exhaust where it is a stinger but with this shape inside it? Some call it a "cookie cutter exhaust". Thanks!

We used to run those megaphones on some of the early 911 race cars. There is no real baffle in them so I don't see how they would be any quieter than if the "cookie cutter" wasn't there. In other words, that's not a good choice for a street driven car unless you like loud.

Thank you for the reply low brau! I guess I was just hearing the great purr of a straight piped 911! Maybe one day for my little ghia. In the mean time I will just use a quite pack until I have a motor to match the sound!
