Hi Markos,
it is a pity that someone hid the sliding roof under bondo...

Maybe you find some parts needed here:
http://www.kaeferland-shop.de/index.php?component=...3.60393936

or here
http://www.csp-shop.com/cgi-bin/cshop2/front/shop_...b2=Sunroof

Good luck and I will keep following your thread...

Congratulations!

Looking great.

Did you find that the sunroof seal made it difficult to close the sunroof? Mine did. I had to alter it a bit.

Tim

That is very nice! You have done a great job, does it operate smoothly?

Your crank and cup looks brand new, did you replace them? I have been looking for a new cup, but could not find a replacement that wasn't cracked or brittle.

Just one comment, such a nice clean car should not be degraded by those silly eyebrows. Someone mentioned they keep the snow off the lenses and little else, that should not be a big concern in Greece.

Happy motoring in your beetle!

About the eyebrows i see snow about two times per year and it lasts for a few hours so i don't have problem but sometimes i think i should to get rid of them and others i like...I can't take a decision Wink

Kaefer, my "German" seal was too fat. The roof wouldn't close. So I made a slit in the front middle part of the seal (underneath so it wouldn't show), and a slit on either side of the seal (a few inches past the front curves). Then I snipped the white, rubber gut at the center and at each front end and used needle-nose pliers to pull the white gut out from the center. I left the rest of the seal intact. Only then would my roof close properly.

But you seem to have another issue that I didn't fully understand.

Tim

Your seal appears to be installed wrong. When I installed mine, it fit very well. I had to press hard to get it to slide onto the sides of the roof. But they should be tight like that.

Yours looks as if the seal wasn't pressed around the edge properly. Was the circumference of your roof in good shape? The seal appears to have split. How did that happen?

You may need a new top that is in better shape, but send more pictures--possibly with the top taken off.

Tim

From the one picture you posted, it seems the outer felt has ripped and the inner white gut is exposed. What caused the felt to rip? Was it a rough edge that did it while opening and closing the top? Does the top edge rub against anything why opening or closing? Try to find this issue.

And I don't know what you could use to fix the seal.
