I tackled this job last night and it was easier than I expected. The channel on my car is in great shape so that helped, but getting it in (with the engine in the car) wasn't too difficult at all. I used a water/dish soap mix on the rubber and pushed the top lip in with a dull screwdriver. Took a couple of hours.
Now on to the next job! _________________ Mike B. |

The rear edge of my rubber seal is long torn out. I just got the Thing running, so I don't want to pull the engine now, or really dick with the seal until maybe Winter.
I had some duct tape but that didn't stick well to the car side with the oily/dusty residue that is there.
So I wandered around my garage trying to think of an alternative. As I thought of the comments of using the Bus style seal, I spied some 1 inch think foam I had sitting there.
What I did was cut a couple strips of the foam, probably 6 inches wide. I then used some duct tape to roll it in half. Finally, I got some heavy duty aluminum foil and wrapped the foam in the foil, such that it was doubled over on the side facing down.
This jammed into the gap nicely and should work for the time being. _________________ Dave Cook

Im with ya. I could not get out all the old rubber, and it was not in my plan for now to pull the motor.
So I made it work...Gorilla Tape seems to be holding ok, although it loosened in the spot where I missed cleaning up some grease..Of course..
