Embarrassed to say I have forgotten which setting to put knob to on common volt meter electronic measuring device to check the performance of a 6 volt Optima Red Top Battery. Also want to check out 6 volt voltage regulator and Generator.
Any help on how to do this is much appreciated.

For just checking voltage output use dc volts. If it does not say dc then a V with a straight or dashed line is dc. (ac has a squiggly line) Your meter likely has a several volt settings, pick the number closest but above 6. _________________ Mic

My device has a V- ... and a V squiggly line.
Also choices of voltage 500,200,20,2000m,200m.
Should I choose 20 as this is closest to 6v but above it?
Thanks,

Hi Steve,
The 20 volt setting is as close as your meter will get. 6 V will peg the millivolt settings and not register on the higher settings. |

Jon is correct. Use the V- setting, this = dc volts. _________________ Mic

Hi. Get back to us with your voltage results. Rational is people always asking what is wrong with their own 6 or 12v charging system. If yours is working tell us the results. Nearly everyone doesn't post their "functioning results". I believe it will help others in deciding if their own scenario is good or bad. The difference between a working and non-working 6v system can be 1.5v.
Hope this helps, Bill. |
