Is it possible my steering dampener is worn out after a few thousand miles? My steering feels kinda wobbly over the bumps and turns. |

How long ago (time wise) was it installed? _________________ Supposed to be 77käfer, but there are no umlauts on an american keyboard

If the steering wheel tries to jerk out of your hands when hitting a bump, it's worn out. _________________ Don't be fooled by appearances. In Hawaii, some of the most powerful people look like bums and stuntmen.

Is there very much play in your steering wheel? If so your steering box may need adjusting, if you have less than 1-1 1/2 inches then it could be your dampner maybe bad. Undo one end and push and pull. If you have resistance during then yours is good. Also check your end bearings. If you have loose ones, they can put heavy wear on the dampner causing early failure. Good luck. |
