I've been fighting my 69 baja for a few days now. I put trailer lights on the back and talking with my friend at oriellys and he sold me a device that you tie your wiring harness that is supposed to turn a 3 bulb system into a 2 bulb for trailers and whatnot anyways my main question is is the harness of a 69 any different from a 70 model because I have a service manual for 70 and on VWs. Things that I have looked at previously look identical but I did notice I have more wires for my taillights than the schematic in the book shows. Help me please! Ha ha

Hard to believe you have more than running lights, brake lights, and two turn signals, that plus a ground comes out to 5 wires. This wiring harness from Oriellys should have 5 wires on one side and 4 wires on the other, and instructions as to which wire runs what. Find the running light, hook it up to the running lights wire, etc.

I can't remember exactly it's been a day or 2 since I've looked at it but I believe it does. The harness from oriellys is a 4 wire setup for lights that only have 1 bulb with 2 functions. You see what I mean?

I've got the same thing on my 69 Baja. I also use the 70 diagram for most of my wiring. It is real easy to setup. Instead of using the Bentleys to wire it though, I just used a test light. That way you know that you have a left turn signal when you want it etc. Need any info, give a holler.
