I've heard of there being a rear Jalousie window? Anybody have or seen one of these? Searches through the forums, classifieds and gallery turn up nothing. Did they really exist or is it just a myth?

Rear as is rear rear?

I've never seen one. A rear popout, yes.

Rear as in side rear.

Now a pop out rear rear (or rear hatch) window would be sweet, I'd get me one of those.

I've sene pictures of both rear jalousies and rear sliding windows, but never on a US spec bus or never on a Westy for that matter. I assume they are aftermarket.

Some Sportsmobiles had the rear drivers side window with a jalousie window. I have seen only a handfull of them, but they do exist. They are only two panes and different than the regular Westy ones....

I think Wolfsburg West sells that kit for $340 powdercoated or $400 in stainless. Very nice. The rear Safari window, mind you, not the rear Jalousie.

Man, if he had welded those spacers up, that would look perfect!
Nice to know they will fit, though...
And note that sportsmobiles like that were cut from panel vans, so that's not the same as putting jalousies into an existing window hole.

That's not a sportsmobile... Sportsmobile jalouises are 2 panel as opposed to 3, and they mount by screwing on from the outside with 26 screws each, instead of fitting into the hole with a seal like the standard jalouises.

I have seen several early sportsmobiles with rear jalousies, I'll look for some pics. I've yet to see a late one with that set up though...

There's also a couple real life examples in the sportsmobile thread:
