O.K. to begin with I am a originality freak, so I have a problem. The rear apron on my 63 is pretty beat up. How difficult is it to remove, disassemble, repair it. Or should I replace it.
I have found a 64. Is this a correct replacement?

Geoff

If you have the tools and the know how it is not all that hard but those are some big things to have. For example. If I was to do it would take about 4 days to do it.

Day one - Remove parts around the area and mark the cut areas.
Day Two - Cut parts away and weld new parts on
Day three - Clean new are and paint it
Day four - Put parts back on after paint dries.

Go to the paint and body forum and read up on plug weld removal tool . It will help you remove the old without too much damage .

ok guys, I need a new rear apron.

But... Im looking for a quality aftermarket unit. To me, the apron fitment and curvature is one of the most important pieces on whether a beetle looks like a quality build.

Ive been looking at the Auto craft rear aprons. But, there seems to be mixed results.

Who else makes quality aprons?

Im looking for the 64-66 style, although id be fine with an early, no exhaust exit apron as well.

how are these?

thanks
