3 yards of reconstituted leather was enough for front and rear door cards with pockets and for rear parcel cover.
Thanks for viewing. |

Back in 03 nobody repoped the correct mats for up to 60 cars. Well finally after all of these years, this past Saturday, I replaced them with the correct style.

And yesterday, I went over to my buddies house to help him on his vert project. The ugly white top had to go, and we dyed it to its correct grey color.

Had a little work done to the front end:
disc brakes w/ 2.5in drop spindles
swapped out the 5.5 Mangels up front for the 4.5's and went w/ 135's
new master cylinder
new link pins
and a oil change taboot
Couldn't be any happier right now!

Wet sanded and buffed the hood. Changed both rear shocks fixing my thumping noise. Both shocks looked good but both were blown. Ordered 2.5" drop spindles. I hope they aren't to hard to install. _________________ 66 beetle |

he's in the driveway now, waiting for the sneaky Buick to vacate the carport.
I did start him up, and found out that the alternator must be bad, for after I removed the negative lead, he stopped.
I imagine Herbie is sad that Dean Jones has passed away. If anybody has read anything about his life, he was an amazing person and an all-around nice guy.

I ordered the drum brake version so I hope my tires will fit and the bearings are the same. I specifically ordered them to fit my tie rod ends with 17mm nuts so fingers crossed. _________________ 66 beetle |

IIRC same bearings used on most years. I know they were the same between my 67 and 74, and same as a 72 ghia.
Don't use cheap bearings, and make sure you clean and repack your bearings really, really well. |

Just finished refurbing a Bosch 034 SVDA distributor I got off ebay. It's going to replace the 009 and hopefully get rid of my flat spot!
I was a bit concerned when I took out the 009 and found that the distributor gear was not installed in the correct position, but I think I have read enough on here to get the new distributor set properly.
Looking forward to trying it out this weekend.
Oh, and have been working on replacing the door window rubber seals. That's been FUN. |

Thanks for the info. I hope they ship soon. I will report when I install them. _________________ 66 beetle |

I restored the steering wheel and grab handle back to the original black and added a vintage horn ring.
