Hi.
I'm running 145/65 tires for the front and 195/65 for the rears. Naturally the speedo ain't show correct speed any longer.

I looked for an adjuster in both U.S. and Japan market, got nothing apart from ones for Fords or Chevrolets; so I asked a friend help showing pictures of them.

He made this out of DURACON (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polyoxymethylene), he said that way less worries about wearing of gears and it would be easier than steel to make.

I can't wait to see how it works.

Here are pics of inside parts.

Note the main body part is flipped, the inlet should be 20T to decrease speed.

Beautiful work.

Doesn't this end up reversing the direction of the spin?

!!!!
That's true. Shocked

Thanks for posting, I will probably end up making hole through the right spindle so the wire can spin the opposite way.

I thought I would drill hole into the right spindle, but that way it could be weakened so we decided to do from the scratch.

He added one more gear so the direction of spin is now fixed. Smile

This is nice but, you can just check your speed with a GPS like many of us have done and note how off your speedo is, mine is 5mph faster now with the 135's I am running so I know that if I am reading 55mph, I am actually going 60mph. Simple.

That will change the calibration of the speedometer needle, but the odometer would still be off.

How would it be off? If i go 10 mph for an hour, I've gone ten miles. The mileage is run by the same thing that runs the needle.

The cable spins the same for both, but inside the speedometer itself, the needle is not directly coupled to the wheel - it's run by magnetic inductance and the calibration is in the needle's return spring. Now, the odometer IS connected directly to the front wheel hub by worm gears and there is no adjustment that will change that. So you can vastly change the speedometer calibration and it will have zero effect on the odometer.

Swing and a miss. It can't read 5mph faster all through the range. It's a percentage thing. If you're going 10 mph will it read 15? If you're going 100 mph will it read 105? No. It's more like a 10% difference.
My '57, with 145/65/15s reads 40 mph when I'm doing 50kph (about 30mph). On the highway, when it reads 70mph, I'm at 90kph. (about 55mph) It's variable, get it?
