Ah McStevie!

Steve McQueen was quite a guy. Pretty serious desert motorcycle racer and road racer in cars. Not only does he appear in the docu-movie "On Any Sunday" riding his Husqvarna, I used to often Tech Inspect his Porsche 910 Spyder he raced in the Can Am class of SCCA racing. At the races he was pleasant to deal with and seemed to always be having a good time, not worrying about how well the car would do or nervous about driving or worrying about crashing. Just havin' fun. He often arrived at the road races in his VW Bug convertible with a Ford 351 in the back seat. He loved to offroad race cars as well, including racing the Baja 1000 in the famous Baja Boot with an Olds Toronado V8 and front wheel drive in the back.

Put a spare transaxle and the rear tires off my sandrail in my beetle so I could roll it outside.
Reminded me if this thread.

The red one & the green one look like the same car with different paint.

That picture of the red "T" buggy with the blond looks like it was shot in Red Rock just outside of Vegas in the 70's

Looks just like the one I bought in the early 70s! And the price isn't much more either. Better bargain now, although I would wager if you bought one now, it won't still be usable and in good shape in 40 years like mine is.

Why? Just because it's $30?

Because when I bought mine, $30 was more than a day's wages for me. It was nearly 10 tanks of gas in my VW. McDonald's was advertising "...And change back from a buck!" for a meal of a burger, fries and Coke. Now it's more like change back from a Ten. But I didn't pay $30 then, it was more like $20. But still, it was pretty expensive. The current price of $30 is a hell of a bargain compared to what it cost then. And I really doubt that the quality now is as good as it was then.

My old friend Dennis Sletten and his boys. They still make Class 11 style cage kits in their own design out of DOM or 4130. Not cheap, but current SCORE legal.

That car above has an old Chenowth CREW mild steel cage kit they added onto long ago. Still rockin' and rollin'!
