Not $400, but I sold a 74 bumper for $275 and it wasn't plated. _________________

Can anyone tell me why it is impossible to find an aftermarket 74 beetle steering wheel? I am aware that I can find vintage/used ones here on the classifieds or on eBay, but what about a brand new aftermarket piece? They make them for the early beetles, button the late model ones...why not? _________________ I drive a bug, not a half-circle with wheels on it... |

Besides the price - who pays extra to have AC installed into a convertible? _________________ "I don't fix 'em to look at 'em, I fix them to drive."

That price is obscene. Either this guy way overpaid for the car when he bought it, or he's waiting for that special kind of moron out there who will pay almost $50k. Who the hell ARE these people? Do they research ANY prices at all? Where does this kind of valuation come from? |

All I can assume is it's coming from watching Barrett Jackson too much, or it's people looking at other insane prices and it trickles down from there. I've seen some crazy prices on junk cars put together with nothing but crap aftermarket parts. I know for a fact that my current car is worth more than most of these and I couldn't even imagine asking half or even a quarter of what some of these people are asking. I'm pretty meticulous with what parts I using and keeping them as original as possible, aside from maybe lowering it with some decent aftermarket wheels, and I'd feel stupid posting my car up for sale for anything near some of these prices. Maybe I'll post my car up for some insane price when I'm done with it just to see what kind of reaction these people have to be getting from people that actually know what a fair price actually is. lol |

I guess I'm really more interested in the person who would be seriously considering paying these prices. If you have that kind of money burning a hole in your wallet then maybe prices don't matter much. But I've always been under the impression that people who are rich maintain their wealth by NOT making stupid, uninformed financial decisions.
Just did a search for convertible Supers. Most expensive one I saw was $22,500 for a triple white (still overpriced IMO). Took me a minute to establish that top end. |

You could build one for half of what most of these people are asking too. I have personally never seen later model bugs as a car that would be worth all that much, but I guess some people like them. I definitely agree with you on how people with a lot of money are as far as their finances, but I suppose if it's something they just have to have, maybe they're paying these prices? |

How do you even spend that much on customizing a SB? And if you're planning on dropping that kind of coin on a VW, why not do it to a model that will hold it's value a little better. I don't think it's worth even half of what they're asking.

They may be somewhat rare in that not many suppliers have them, but I believe that's simply because they are such inferior cooling shrouds. Having one on your $92,000 Super Beetle is not a selling point that you should highlight in an ad. |

I like how in the photo it appears that the two headlights are at completely different angles. I am assuming that it's just an optical illusion but I kind of hope that it's not. _________________ 1965 Volkswagen 1500 Variant S

$2200 for this??
http://fayar.craigslist.org/cto/5187433699.html
Needs complete paint job overhaul, seats are "in great shape" except not, body is in pieces, needs floor pan work...
This sounds like a "trying to recoup my costs" ad... _________________ I'm the humblest guy on this board.

Yes, because everything that had rust, has rusted completely away.
