|

I need a new sending unit for my tank and I did a search trying to find the guy selling new VDO units for $25. Couldn't find it in the classifieds. Does anyone know who was selling these, and better yet, were they the real thing? I believe they usually sell for a little under $60.
Thanks,

Thats Chris from L5VW in Salem, OR. Hes a real good guy and I would recomend him to anyone. I've bought one of his senders and there brand new in box VDO. Ive bought things from him on Ebay and at his shop, also at shows. He is a easy and nice guy to work with and his prices are awsome. I bought a pair of compleate repo tail light assemblys for 20 bucks for my 66! they look and work great! |

Does anyone know where I can buy a real VDO sending unit for my 1966 bus?
I know WW makes one, but they are out of stock, and I'd like to replace mine with an original manufacture type part, as opposed to a reproduction by another company.
I did find one on Ebay, but it wasn't from the link on this original thread. Anyone have any experience with the one on the link below? It appears to be VDO...I was curious if anyone has used one?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/VW-TYPE-2-BUS-1962-1967-VD...3641.l6368
Thanks for the information.

Thanks guys for the info. I will check out the thread and look into rebuilding mine.....It is good to know that they are good because it may be easier just to buy one, if it is of good quality like the originals.....Do you have one yourself? If so, how long have you had one?
Thanks!

2007. Works perfect. You used to have to buy the gasket extra. |

I need to test too, my fuel tank is currently exposed, battery out, engine out.
Fuel gauge is out too (did not have any connections on it previously).
How do we go about testing the gauge and sender? |

The sender needs to be out unless you want to drain then pour fuel in the tank.
Easiest to use an Ohm Meter to test the sender. Hook the meter to the tab and the rim. With the sender right side up the meter should read near 70 ohms. With the sender flipped over upside-down it should read down towards 7 ohms.
The gauge, you need to hook to positive and negative power then jump the sender tab to ground and it should read over full. |
