I understand that the consensus here on the Samba is that Sigla skylite glass was clear. Here is a picture of an original skylite next to a side window, granted they are 50 years old, both are cleaned, But the skylite glass definitely has a tint to it.The tint in laminated glass is added to the boning material, not the glass.

If you check out some of the original VW advertisements specifically for a 1960 deluxe the skylites are tinted.

I have a set of 7 sigla skylights from a 1960 here, they do have a slight tint, but very slight like the laminate is slightly discolored. I read somewhere euro model busses didn't have to use laminate and used the green tempered sekurits like the 50's busses, so the vw adverts are most likely euro market busses with sekurits.

This bus would have had siglas as well. Doesn't look to have a tint to me?

Not trying to be mean. I love that you eched the logos, just wondering if it was a preference thing that you went green?

The logo art work was copied from the original skylite.

A little update on the project....
Installed all new brake lines, cylinders, and shoes

Color sanded and polished the paint, got the POS WW bumper to fit, and straightened and polished the deluxe trim

Installing the safari seals was a bit of a chore, used Sika urethane adhesive and home made "clamps" to hold them in place.

Painters is building a 1914 for me, should be done in 3-4 weeks
There appears to be a little light at the end of the tunnel Cool

Fortunately the springs were annealed by the manufacturer and I was able to make the bends using 2 vise grips.

Nice fab work on the seat frame.

Did you salvage the replacment flat steel strip section from another seat or did you buy new?

I was able to salvage about 1/3 of them and replaced the rest - I used 16 gauge hot rolled carbon steel, it had a decent amount of "spring" to it. the metal shop couldn't cut it to 3/8 because it twists in their shear so I had them cut it to 1" strips and then cut those down the middle with the Harbor Freight shear - it takes a 1/4" strip out of the middle. It made it through about 4 6'strips before it bit the dust. Fortunately that was all I needed.
