Do y'all see what I see? Granted, this is owned by a famous rock climber so the holds don't need to be close together but it'd be interesting to see how they mounted the fold-out steps on the B and C pillars.

Food for thought...

I see a pretty easy route from the front tire or door to the B pillar and then a traverse to the C pillar. Straddling those two steps may provide a solid position to address the situation on the roof top. I'll bet this guy and his family can circumnavigate the van. He's used to resting on paper thin '"ledges".

No need to eye roll TK. The guy is a full time climber. Going from the top of the tire to that step is child's play for him, not for you....or me....well for me too, but I am 6'4".... Very Happy

The issue here is not too many of the crew is Jean Claude Van Damme, Arnold, Chuck Norris, or Silvester.

I'm real happy this guy can leap tall buildings in a single bound .
Good for him.
Maybe when I was 15-20.
I'm all done playing Clark Kent, when there is smarter ways of getting this job done.

I'm 6'2", and shrinking.

Those steps are exactly what I'd do..
Flip-down mast steps.
easy step up from sill of door..

..but we stay limber out here in the land of fruits and nuts.

Try some yoga, Terry.. Does wonders for body and soul.

BTW Chuck is a bit vertically clhallenged.. 5-8 or some such..
He would just to roll the Vanagon on its side to load the top.

Boy.

Quite the guy.

One would think that after that excellent demonstration of stamina, one would want to make real life a little easier.

Neat stuff.

Right Smack Dab into the side of the van and into the Earl Scheib paint job.

Do Tell.

How you gonna avoid this phenomena?

You can't--excluding a remote , ground only affixed step ladder arrangement.

Now--nobody mentioned, or even brought up a "saving the paint" upper veranda accessibility gizmo here--
Wasn't even mentioned.
But whatever you hang on that van , and as soon as you go up that devise, your going to Toe Tap the side of the Van.

It's part of the deal--rope ladder or not--your going to screw up the paint behind it.

Very Happy

Looks like Mom could climb circles around those macho poseurs... Given the environment they're raised in, it's prolly a cakewalk for the boys too.

It doesn't open in my Firefox, but does in Explorer, which I keep on hand for sites that aren't coded for anything else...

<<No... YOU, "TK" have no idea

Good for him.
I was too busy flat tracking, ice racing, and road riding on my scooters to waste any time playing monkey man--had priorities.
Climbing rock formations in the flatland's just wasn't a top priority.

And for that matter didn't care.

Had much better hair raising, other stamina building endeavors to get accomplished & enjoy.
Rocks just don't make it with me--No reason too--they ain't any around here.

So--with that said--you don't have clue what's cool.
If you ain't shoving your bike into a clay covered track corner at 110 mph, an coming out on the other side of it-- still on the bike, you just ain't with it.
