My '50 deluxe has oval horn grills on it, which I am replacing with the correct round grills. Someone back in the 60s drilled holes for the oval grills, but the 4 slits are still there for the round grills, suggesting that they are deluxe fenders. A standard would not have the 4 slits.
But something doesn't seem right. There is no hole in the fender on the horn side. I thought all deluxe splits had a hole in the fender on the horn side. Why does mine not? Most importantly, what should the diameter of the hole be? _________________ Charlie

Have seen same. Think in the later 1950s the replacement front fenders had both horn grill slots for quicker fender replacement. Then just cut out the horn side hole and bondo over the extra slots. _________________ In Stereo, Where Available! |

Except that the holes for the oval grills were a real hack job. Clearly not professional quality. And the fenders have all the other features of an original split fender. _________________ Charlie
