Hot Vws is not terrible, but definitely not Nat Geo quality.
I really hate the whole white print on a multi color page thing, and the deal where the first two pages are in the front, and the rest on page 783, in between some idiot standing on a fender and a tiny print ad for carbs.
Good luck with the new mag. I'll subscribe if it has any real content. Like Volksworld, but without all the spelling errors.... |

I really wish VW treads was still in publication. I have some old ones from the 80s and 90s. But just getting back into VWs again was sad to not find the magazine still around. I got a subscription to Hot VWs but it not the same. |

A hello, and it's been quite a while since I've been here.
I found this thread by doing a google search for VW Trends, actually surprised seeing this thread come up and that people are still posting in it after all this time.
OK to get to the point of my search, I have/had a decent sized collection of these magazines that have been in storage for years.
Recently I decided that they have been sitting too long and it was also time to bring myself more into the digital age, so I bought a single page scanner and scanned all of these (and my Hot VWs) into PDF format and have them now stored on my PC.
I also searched for PRIMEDIA and the only thing coming up looks like an advertising company, it looks like PRIMEDIA Publishing that was connected with this magazine is no more. Is this right, or am I missing it some how?
And the main reason for my searching, could I get in any kind of legal issues if I wanted to sell my now digital collection?
Edit to add; Looks like I'm back to being a newb on here, I had some posts years ago but now I'm back to 1 |

Yes, they are all copyrighted and you could easily be sued. _________________ How to Post Photos

So, was the March 2005 issue the last issue published of VW Trends Magazine? _________________ 1978 Super Beetle Convertible (Project)

McMullen-Argus-K-III- Source Interlink-Primedia has changed their name again, they are now called TEN (The Enthuisiast Network...maybe that will help, I was at VW Trends from 1997-2001. _________________ 2003 Samba Chummie Winner- Best Story

Back in the heyday I was an avid reader of VW Trends at the magazine store. Sadly I didn't buy that many because I had a subscription to HotVws. In fact I think I tended to buy VW Trends based on how much I liked the girls in it back then! HotVw's was bought for the more serious VW articles. Although the subscriptions ended early on due to mail theft!, I ALWAYS bought it monthly at the store. For the next 29 years! However the issue with the V8 Ghia on the cover ended it permanently for me. Volksworld does a MUCH better job in every aspect, and is easily worth the much higher price. HotVWs doesn't seem to have ever changed their format, and likely never will. In these times of change, some may like that stand, but they failed me and lost my guaranteed $ every month. Oh and to get back on track, I thought VWTrends was improving near the end... _________________ 1974 "Restfalia" Camper 2000 cc EFI 2001-

I had a subscription to trends for many years and appreciated the more technical articles and attitude as opposed to DB&Hot VWs . They went away like a thief and keep our subscription money I still had at least two years, they sent some shitty magazine and then that stopped too. I've still got a few of these mags I need to throw away. |

Great Memorys, found this old Thread via Google.
I had a Subscription in the 80s.
A Friends (born in SoCal) phoned from Germany to make my Subscription.
Every Month when a new Issue came there was a Party in my House.
Think there were not much that had a Subscription here in Germany.
I made a 17Year long Break from VW and now I'm a Subcriber from Hot VWs but since the Leadership changed I doesnt get any Issue.
On every Swap Meet I try to buy old VW Trends with the good, hot Covers and overall the legendary Swim Suit Issues!!! |

I liked those too the cars with women draped over them but believe it or not this generated complaints. Some guys have a problem with this?

Same with Hot VWs Magazine; readership is like 99% male, and complaints from somewhere (wives, girlfriends, staffers??) made them stop too. I used to have the Hot VWs calendar on my wall at work, the shop had Rigid Tool calendars.
Similar uproar to Popular Mechanics magazine, complaints there were about gals in the boating photos/articles wearing swimsuits, believe it. _________________ 1970 VW (owned since 1972) and 1971 VW Convertible (owned since 1976), second owner of each. Wow, it’s a shame how the women lib movement has castrated y’all. Think of all the beautiful women that can no longer get modeling gigs because the photogenically impaired make the most noise under the guise of “objectifying”. _________________ Everybody born before 1975 has a story, good, bad, or indifferent, about a VW.
