|
|
I have searched samba for help with this with no luck.
I have been meaning to change out the molding for a while. I finally had the time yesterday everything was going perfect until I got to the hood. I had a NOS German crest with backing that inspired this whole change of trim deal, plus, some pieces where kinda bad. I put the crest on perfect, at this point I was real excited, until I got to the molding. I don't know why I didn't measure it to the old I guess I just figured it was an even swap...WRONG. The Wolfsburg piece is 1/2" bigger "longer" than the OG one I had. After a scratched badge, car, and crest holder I put the old one back on and scratched my head. "Wolfsburg" confirms the part number to what I have is correct...but.
Any one else run it to this?
Picture of New crest with old molding!

Do you mean that the new WW moulding doesnt mate properly with you rcrest?
It doesnt have the proper contour on the last inch so it sits on top of the badge like your original moulding?

Mine is made out of stainless steel from WW. I had to grind the molding to fit the hood crest. But besides that it fit fine. |

I never had the original molding to go off of. But it looked like the above picture. I used a grinder disk on my angle grinder at work marked on both sides with a sharpie were it seemed the molding would slid over the crest holder and slowly worked and fitted the molding till I was happy how it fit. If it is aluminium I would be extra careful. It will eat away quickly. |

I don't know how to post pictures on this site. PM me your email and I will get a picture of mine and send it to you. It's just out in the garage and I'm driving it to work tomorrow. |

you may have gotten a generic one or the one that doesn't have the lower emblem , go back to WBW and just show them the problem, that's the issue I had but I didn't want to go threw the issue of sending the molding back so I just cut mine at the bottom, but mine is not a cool bug like yours |

Here are photos that I sent to Wolfsburg West. I asked if I had the wrong part.
No you have the right part.
But it doesn't fit properly, it's missing the indent for the crest.
Sorry.
But it doesn't fit properly, and it's too long, about an inch or so.
Sorry, if you don't like it you can send it back.
If you're going to go to the trouble, make them right.
Sorry, send it back.
Stainless Steel set. Not cheap.
