| I have a 1200cc (new owner of this buggy) and 10 minutes into driving I smelled gas, and the engine died at idle. It did this at every stop sign all the way home, and became increasing difficult to restart every time. |

Sounds flooded - can be a variety of things - first thing I would do would be pull the top off the carb and see it the float is stuck or shot, then would check if the needle valve is stuck open.
Then next thing would be checking fuel pressure.
