|
|
Hey guys, I'm adjusting the rear torsion bars on my buggy trying to raise the rear a couple inches
I took the spring plate cover off and I don't see any splines, are they inside the tube connected to the spring plate?
Here's a picture, what do I do next?
Any tips? I've been searching all day and none of the instructions look like this
Also the bushings look like they are shot, what bushings do I need to get to replace them?
Thanks!

yep, you're onto it. You have to take off the spring plate, the splines terminate in the "tube" like so
Just make sure not to die when you take it apart, the spring plates are pre-tensioned so that when you knock the spring plates off of the stops they're on, they'll EXPLODE down on you and if your hand was in the way it would definitely not be in the way anymore... _________________ 1974 Chenowth 2RL #1244 Street Legal

the car has 3x3 arms, I tried to raise them out of the way of the spring plate but this is as far as it goes before topping out at the bump stops
It looks like I can pry the plate over the bottom stop even with the trailing arm against the plate on the top
You think if I do that it will bind and make bigger problem?
Maybe I need drop the trailing arm down instead of up... I don't know

Looks like you have to move the trailing arm.Pain in the A@#$#@.
Just remove the trailing arm pivot bolt and move the arms over. If you are careful you can do this without taking the brake lines and axles off.
When you are done putting everything back make sure you "dent" the area around the pivot bolt. I had one come loose then out. I replaced them with this style that I can wire tie.

find the parts somewhere other than appletree auto. one of the people working there gave my girlfriends credit card info to a buddy of his who set up a paypal account with it. and its not just an assumption, i have a paper trail on it. she doesn't want to deal with it in court so she wont file a police report, and its not my card so i cant do anything about it. |

I can't find any bushings locally and I want to drive the buggy this weekend
Hate to do it after all that work taking it apart but I'm putting it back together until the bushings arrive |
