Yah I know. I personally like the stock height but my mom is having some issues getting in and out of the passenger seat. I figured it was worth asking, maybe someone did exactly what I am setting out to do. I still want to retain as much function as possible and I want to still take it camping on trails if necessary.

Here's what I just got for my bus to replace my 8 year old (maybe older) Signet SV820 (185R14C) tires. They gave good service.

These Hercules HSI-S tires were the only 185R14C tires I could get - $87 each! Only downside is that the date code is 26/12, so they are already 3 years old! But with me only putting on 1-2K miles per year (at most) on the bus, they'll do.

The Hancook dealers here couldn't get RA08's, the continental dealers couldn't get Vanco 8's. Canadian Tire advertises Vanco 8s online only - but you have to buy them first, get charged to your credit card, and a couple of days later they send you an email saying they are unavailable. One place tried to get me into BFG AT 195/75R14's, but they were $190 Cdn each, which was way too pricey. I should have bought tires in Maine when I visited Randy a couple of years ago!

Yes, I know these are winter tires, which I was a little leery of, but they'll do fine in the summer in this part of the country.

FWIW, we have plenty of RA08's in stock in both sizes (185R14 and 195R14). $99 each for either size and much newer than 3 years.

If you run those you have to paint your rims black and run without hubcaps.

There's a lot of options for those tires. All of them are good. =)

Hmm I still kind of like the stock silver color and hubcaps with All Terrains.

I like black rims with stock hubcaps, reminiscent of old school steel rims with dog dish hub caps.

Only difference in make is where they come from and what they use. Go "American" and get some BFGs or Generals.

Does anyone know if a 195/75/14 BFG All Terrain Tire on a factory size wheel would fit in the oem wheel well in the back of the bus? I just realized it might be a tinge too big or too wide to fit where the factory spare tire goes.

Put a set of Yokohama "Super Van 356" 195 75 R14 "D" load tires on my '78 tin top. $135 each installed with all the associated costs out the door.

I just put these on my '66 but I thought it might be useful to those with early bays.

Victorun from China
195/R14C
26" tall, 7.25" wide, ~2000lb load rated

A decent economy street tire, I paid $300/4 installed and out the door.
Have been using Victoruns on my Chevy work van for most of a year and they have performed well.
