The PO for some reason installed a chrome ebrake handle and I'd like to paint it the original color. Instead of buying a different handle, what's the best way to prep and paint over the chrome?

Light buff how? Like #000 steep wool? 1000 grit sandpaper? Will the etch primer stick to the chrome plating?

#000 would be fine, etch primer would be good to. Just enough to remove the shine before the primer. Do you have either on hand?

I did the bumpers on my bug since the had a ton of surface rust. I sanded all the surface rust off with like 320 I think. Then etch primed them, then flat black out of a rattle can, then cleared with a spray gun. I have clear left over from doing my car. Came out great.
