Hi,
I'm running a 2332, 48IDA's, web 86B, 1.4 rockers with a compression of 9:1.

My problem is this: I am running a bergmann fan shroud system and a Petronix distributor. I can only manage 10degrees adv on my distributor due to distributor cap hitting ring band for the shroud system.

With the current setup I'd like to ask is this ok or should I go with full 32 degrees advance?

you can jump your wires forwards or back so you can have enough room to time? thats what i would do.

I was going to say flip the drive tang on the bottom but then the opposite side on the bolt down dist cap may hit the shroud.

You can get a CB Black Box and use that distributor or get yourself a different distributor with a smaller cap.

10 degrees total advance is not enough.

Agreed....

Rotate the distributor body 90* clockwise and move the wires one terminal counter clockwise. That way the wires are in the same location butt he cap tag won't hit the shroud.

Not having the engine at 32 Degree's advance will it hurt the overall bottom line performance? I am trying to get all the available power out of the cam / carb combo to increase HP output.

Why not just reindex the distributor drive gear a couple teeth? Sounds like the simplest method to me.

It will hurt all of your performance. My 1600 will run laps around your 2332 if you don't time it correctly. Razz

You are talking about timing it maximum advance, correct? Not timing at idle?

Chip B had the correct answer-pull the distributor and remove the dist drive gear and re-index it so when you have your 28-32 BTDC full advance the dist cap is not hitting the shroud.

It's been a long week!
