Saw one in person for the first time Sunday. It appeared in better shape than when new.

that is very nice
ive been looking for info on this type of vw, ive used the search link and found alot more pics of restos, and the stories with them, but none with info on the production years, setups, or options and such. i know they are very rare, but does anybody know of any links to the history of this model?
thanks in advance _________________ '56 ragtop (irs pan)(passed inspection 7/09)

I don't know if it was as "mean" as you might think... Many PMS'y ones anyway! I'm a very lucky girl! After several years of searching, prodding and patience I get to be the custodian of a great VW like this Frid! So I chose not to remodel my kitchen or have a new daily driver, It is a lot more fun to drive than cooking! My husband should have never shown me one on the Samba! Wait until I hit the lottery! I see a slammed Hebmuller in my front drive.... Thanks for all the positive words.. _________________ _______________________________________

It was Marvin's... He is our mentor on the in's and out's of Fridolins... He really tried to help us get a Frid from overseas for months without any luck and the high Euro to Dollar exchange was a killer! I think that he decided to part with this one just to keep from answering my constant emails and calls .. We are the 3rd owner since Steve Gilbert did the original build... Mitch or Mick in the UK(sorry!) then Marvin FLA. now myself in AZ.. _________________ _______________________________________

They don't exist here in the United States unless someone imports one.
They are usually really really rusty & crusty,
so when you see a nice one you know someone has done a lot of work! _________________ Good Luck

Just been to see the amazing "Mr Fridolin" aka Steve Gilbert, what a guy. He's agreed to do mine for me, so hopefully when done it will be seen on the show circuit here in the UK.
Currently looking like this.

We are very fortunate to have the Fridolin that started it all created by Steve Gilbert, we think that it is the only RHD Frid in the world.. With that said it looks like we will be putting it on the Market this fall or next Spring. With three great VW’s and only two of us to drive them, it might be time to let more for “Show” one go.. We will be testing the market to see if we can get in the low $80k range or what the best offer might be.
