Hello Samba.

I just acquired a '63 beetle and I am installing CB's front and rear disc brake kits. This will push the wheels out around an inch. The car sits on an adjustable front beam and air-bagged rear suspension. I like the way the wheels tuck into the fender wheels now. I believe that I will have to purchase 4 new fenders, probably fiberglass.

I am hoping to pick up a couple of recommendations here. Also, if I do replace the fenders which fender company has the best quality/strength.

Thanks,
Mike

If you do get glass fenders, the ones from Creative Car Craft are very very good.

Air-bagged in the rear.

Thanks for the replies so far.
Yes, the rear is bagged while the front sits on an adjustable beam with 2" lowered spindles. The previous owner had bagged all four corners, but he didn't like the front. That's when he installed the adjustable front and ditched the front bags. The front beam is stock width. Its seems almost pointless to have just the rear bags to me. I like the CB brakes, but pushing the wheels out causes some issues with the fenders. Would the bug look like crap if I used a big back spacing on the wheels in order to tuck them into the stock fenders. I was thinking of some B&R spun aluminum wheels or maybe some Douglas spun wheels.

So everyone agrees that Creative Car Craft has the best rear fenders or is there another favorite out there? I wish some actually made widened steel fenders.

Again, thanks for any advice,
Mike

My CCC fenders were awesome. I would even say better than most steel ones. They are super strong and fit great. But know they dont have any holes. You have to drill your own. The mounting holes are embossed in them though so its easy. Never rust and they will not dent like steel. Mine are stock width though.

Thanks for the CCC fender pics. They do look great! That finish looks like there is not much paint prep to do. I was thinking of ordering them from Aircooled.net. Is there any place closer to Virginia?

Thanks again for taking the time to post the photos.

Order your CCC directly from them. They are down east somewhere. The fit and finish is as good as stock. I have the 1.25" wider ones on the back of my 57

No problem. They were a perfect choice for me because I wanted to do custom tail lights anyway. Plus I didnt want to use the fender mount front blinkers. So all that work was done for me with the CCC. Nothing to weld or patch in. I had tried 3 different sets of steel fenders before ordering these. They were all junk non OEM stuff I ordered from different places. Keep in mind this was back in 03' I think.
Plus they are light! And yes, just scuff and paint! I dont remember any little dings or anything in the mould. They saved me a shit ton of time!

Fantastic!

As soon as a pick out a good wheel set and mount them I will order a complete set of fenders. Then I'll actually know what with I need.

Thanks again,
Mike
