Yep, these are cool, but out of my price range most likely, plus it is more fun to try to figure out how to do it ourselves and spend very little money....the grass mats we used for the headliner and some of the panels cost a dollar each......

Just a couple of quick things......
Bought this cool license plate frame off of fleabay....shipping was more than the item.....one small problem, it obscures the letters/numbers on the plate. Guess it was meant for a state that doesn't require a front plate.....but I will use it somewhere on the interior of the bus.
And I added some super cool racing (?) stripes to my recently repainted gas pedal. Actually kind of looks like the old surfboards/skateboards from the sixties.....
And this picture kind of shows a lot of the stuff I have done in the cab....I took it by my place of employment recently, and I am not sure anyone sees all of the little details....
More to come as long as the weather holds out.

Now you can 'Hang 10' all the time dude! Or at least Hang 5 while you're going up a long, steep grade. _________________ -Tony

Not really a project....but had the TTB out for a spin, visiting our local craft store (where a lot of TTB supplies have been purchased)...
And having my nails done....well, actually visiting another local surf shop hunting for cool decals for the TTB....
Hopefully some more projects soon....

Hey Rod, lovin' the progress.
I saw this bus at a show a couple weeks ago, and it reminded me of you and your crazy tiki bus.
I wish I had snapped another of the interior, but I hate being that guy walking around looking at a screen. lol
Keep it up, dude!! _________________ -Tony

Notchboy....Only 7 or so surf shops within 10 miles of my house....I guess Manasquan Inlet is the fairly famous surf spot around here....I don't surf, it is on the "list".....but I am a skateboarder from way, way, way back.....
Secretsubmariner.....cool bus....thought of the Tiki guy on nose but wasn't sure how to go about it. Thanks for the encouragement. Glad somebody likes it!

Couple of new "projects"
First, finally found the window cling material to turn my surf shop stickers in window clings.....could not find it locally so I bought a yard of it through an art supply place....about $3....so these are removable/movable...
And I repaired my disintegrating glove box....used pre-made paper mache to patch the torn away area.....then decided to do a little reinforcing with some screen and glue....
And, of course, couldn't just paint it black.....
More to come as long as the weather holds out!

Quick couple of projects in the works.....
Cup and/or bottle holder mocked up. Made it out of a scrap of (I believe) culled floor underlayment from HD....used this as the bottom of the rear seat to staple the vinyl to.....
Of course it had to be "Tikified"......took the stain pretty well.
And I picked this up for $5 plus $6 shipping from Summit Racing Equipment, was looking at vintage stuff on fleabay, but this was on clearance. Of course I need this like the bus needs more rust.....but it was cheap....not sure where or how I am going to mount it. Includes a bracket that looks like it fits on the steering column....
More to come!

A mock up of the tachometer mounting panel....like a bus needs a tachometer....of course my bus really needs a "tacky meter"....tried a couple of decorative ideas, but decided on a plain panel. Will go under the dash just to the right of the steering column.
More to come....

Getting cold here, but warm enough to still work on occasion....
Tachometer/switch/light installed.....Thought I would get it wired today, but everything takes longer than you think it should....plus I'm feeling my age at times trying to contort myself to fit under the dash...
This is the view from my driving position.....
And a close up.....
Just got a couple more clearance price gauges from Summit Racing....a boost/vacuum gauge and a voltmeter....already have a voltmeter, but at $3 I couldn't resist....the vacuum gauge was $3 also....looks like the vacuum gauge will be interesting to hook up.....
I've been looking at a lot of pictures of old 70s custom vans, and the TTB seems so tame in comparison....so probably lots of wacky stuff to come....

Part of what the TTB is all about is experimenting with various materials, alternative solutions, really inexpensive solutions, etc.....
So, a cheap Wally World license plate frame....pretty Tiki Tacky to begin with....and some craft store supplies: a primer of sorts, some glitter/metal flake paint, and an outdoor clear sealant....
Luckily, the frame is in two pieces, made it easier to paint.
Should look good against the purple paint....will see if it holds up.

I miss the Jersey Shore. Manasquan, Brick, Point Pleasant, Mantoloking.
Plenty of surf spots and shops. _________________ All the redemption I can offer, girl, is beneath this dirty hood
