|

When reassembling my sliding door stuff after paint I finally got to find out the actual purpose of the black sliding door stop. I saw I has to engage with a latch when you open the door so it stays open until someone pulls the door handle up.
Anyway, I never knew it was supposed like this because it did no longer work. The spring from the catch latch is missing. I tried some springs but couldn't find something that would stay put and do the right thing.
Temporarily fixed it with some rubber bands. Here's an image of the latch I'm talking about
Any ideas of where I could get a replacement spring? _________________ 1978 T2b ASI Riviera Plan I // Camper Special with MegaSquirt Injection & Ignition // 091 with 5.14 R/P and Peloquins LSD

Try either the ads here on TheSamba, or the guys at BustedBus, since you'll probably have to get a used latch. Then you can either use the "used" latch, or take it apart for the spring. I don't know of any place that sells internal parts, or even new latches.
Good luck, and happy hunting! _________________ '67s Rule & '71 Buses Too! |

Didn't find it here in the classifieds. However I haven't checked with Busted Bus yet so I sent them an email. Thanks for the suggestion. _________________ 1978 T2b ASI Riviera Plan I // Camper Special with MegaSquirt Injection & Ignition // 091 with 5.14 R/P and Peloquins LSD

here is a better pic, I cleaned it up for ya,
& here is a diagram of the parts breakdown. You need #9
no part number was given where I "borrowed" the pic. Also looks like anything from that latch & the latch itself is NLA from vw. Hopefully the second pic can help you bend something up to work.
Checked an old parts book & got
211 843 755
for the VW part number _________________ 68 BUS

I know this is an older post but I need the exact same thing and was hoping someone would know more about where to get this spring. I found the whole mechanism for around $100 but I only need the spring part. |

Awesome, I needed a spring but ended up getting a used unit. It was hard to find one that still had a good spring. _________________ Dirk
