OK, I was initially told Bosch Platinums are the only plugs to run. I'm now questioning that info. I read some old posts here and it seems NGK's are preferred.
So now the questions:
-Which plug do you prefer?
-And most importantly, how do you determine the best plug for your engine??

In case someone would like to offer a suggestion for my engine, mine is a 1915, large SCAT cam, stock heads cut to fit, duel 40 EMPI carbs., electronic ignition in 009 distributor and I run premium gas. Not sure what else to tell ya. But if you need more info to make a guess, by all means, let me know what ya need.
Thanks a bunch!!

I will never ever use Bosch plugs, I had waaay too many problems with them. I use NGK for a regular 1600 in my 1915 and have had very good luck with them.

VW Ignition system doesn't have the juice to run Platinum/Iridium plugs. I run Bosch or NGK, no issues.

Thanx BNC!! That is exactly what I was looking for. Great info. It looks like with my stock heads, I can run the BP6HT's if I can find them. I almost bought the ET's. (Pfew, dodged that bullet.)
I appreciate the "steering" to the thread!

And brand new VW's ran Bosch plugs for years... go figure.

OK, I can't seem to get the BP6HT plugs so would BP5HS be OK?? They are a step hotter but not 3 electrode.
Any other suggestions?

'chaz...

Look at some of this info - I don't see that a triple electrode is really necessary.

Thanx nic. It "seems" that they will be fine. I'm wondering what the "P" stands for tho. (??)
Also, since running and electronic ignition, it seems opening up the gap is better. Any truth in that?

Th 'P' designates a projected tip...

http://www.ngk.com/product.aspx?zpid=9402

I would maintain the gap recommended by the manufacturer.
