|
|
My friction disc got soaked in oil when my main shaft seal went out. The German disc I have coming is running late. Can I use this? It's not covered in oil but has light surface rust. The pads seem to have a lot of meat left on them. It apparently sat for some timer. It's an F&S clutch disc, anyone know anything about it?
Original clutch disc soaked... Ready to get back on the road.
Any tips? |

So the donor clutch disc has an F&S part number of 1861441232 (I believe is also made by Sachs?)
My orig clutch disc which has the sach imprint of part # 1861441234
Can the donor be used? It physically matches up. Sliding it onto the main shaft is tough but probably because of some surface rust. I cleaned it up with some light brushing. Slides a little easier. |

Should work ok. As long as the splines match up, be sure to clean the splines inside the disc, a touch of moly grease there. I'd clean the disc with some carb cleaner on a rag, maybe a light scuff with some 120 sandpaper. Make sure there is a least 8 mm thickness, too. BTW, a 215 disc will fit in a 210 flywheel and is half the price! _________________ '72 Elm Green Deluxe |
