Amazing WOW you say?..........You ain't seen nothing yet. This family also has an even more amazing original black paint, OG interior, eng. trans, late Aug. 1955 Ghia!
Since I paid the family full pop for their bamboo / green Ghia you see here, I have first shot at their second Ghia. Not cheap either but worth every penny. _________________

Nice score Joe! I also know that you had an early Ghia previously and missed it. A denzel powered one is just the perfect fit for Mr. old speed.
Best wishes! Tim |

It's a shame that you couldn't afford a lowlight that doesn't have rust holes in the rockers, but I guess that we all have to start in the VW hobby somewhere.

That little device is a small generator type motor that is driven with a speedometer cable that is attached to the crankshaft pulley nut.
When the engine is running, it turns/twists the cable and it "generates" an electrical current that is sent to the original
green/red faced tachometer. |
That's super cool! Reminds me of a '72 Honda motorcycle I used to have where the tach was driven by a cable that was gear-driven off the single overhead camshaft - but that was purely mechanical like the VW speedometer drive.
That's a cool accessory, really ingenious way to get a tach signal. _________________ 1965 Volkswagen 1500 Variant S

Took my lowlight to Hot VW's Drag Day at Irwindale Speedway, Califa. This drag strip is slated to be demo'd to make room for a Walmart store!?!

I saw your car at Drag Day yesterday. Did you replace, re-chrome or polish the bumpers? They do not have as much patina as the rest of the car. It is a great example of an unmolested car! _________________ '58 Ghia 2387cc with a Berg / Folts 5 Speed

The bumpers are original to the car. The only thing I did to clean them up was use chrome cleaner. _________________
