I've been browsing this thread again and http://www.killbillet.com/forum.php for a few days and am getting a little jazzed about working on the Volksrod. It's been sitting outside covered in leaves and pine needles. Going to start with a wheel color change, Maybe Tan or off white. Also thought of some easter egg green color like on some 50's cars maybe.

Nice part about it... wheel color is easy to change if what ya try ....dont "fit".

I understand about needing a kick in the ass to do certain things...
It happens to the best of us..

Sorry folks - but there was an incredible amount of what looks like amazing quality work that went into a really bad idea. I like a lot of his other stuff, but this one just rubs me the wrong way....

Except that it's only a 3D rendering. I'm sure it was still a lot of work but not a real vehicle.

Nice rendering but kinda looks like 2 different style of cars in one. Fenderless open hot rod in the front and lead sled in the rear.

I was wondering about that - man - its hard for me to tell a real car from a rendering anymore..... Embarassed

hey i love the look of these rods. I love the large rear wheels that go above the fender well. how do they get the rear wheels extended outside the fender wells like that? Do they have extended trailing arms or something?

A few things depending on the final look and combination you want.

Wheel offset is key..
You will notice those have a NEGATIVE offset wheels which push them outward more.
Thats the easiest way..
Figure out what wheel you want and buy the right offset that clears the body.. lower it and done..

As for lowering..
Most of the time the transmission/engine are raised especially for Swing Axle equipped.

WIDE Swing axle use (long) 67-68 axles which are 1 inch longer per side that the previous years..

For both Swing or CV (IRS) use trailing arms that relocate the spindle and housing way up. Like drop plates.

The front axles are widened and created with a combination of ywo front beams and parts.. or new ones are created..

Sometimes the bodies are narrowed..If you look close you can see the split down the center of the roof.
Usually thats for chopping (actually widening the roof) but some actually narrow the entire body to match the stock roof..

It really doesnt take much.. except lots of planning, welding.. and time.. maybe a few bucks too.. Laughing

Lots of variables..
