Help starter won't turn! It started to slow down when turning the motor over until one morning there wasn't even a click! I took the starter off (wrong!) to take it in and get it tested. I don't want to be "that guy" and buy a new (reconditioned) starter and install it and still not work! Can I reconnect battery and have someone turn the key to start and test the ground and supply with a voltmeter? What should it read? 12 V ? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hmmm. I"m just wondering if it's the switch behind the clutch pedal. Of course the clutch would have to be depressed to get a reading on the voltmeter.

Take the battery out and have it load tested.
