I would say the chances of the power line being the same are very good, they are almost identical on the front...

Here is the ID51V...

Your best bet is to ask this question on the 356 registry forum, and/or contact Willy Wilkes in Brisbin, PA who works on all versions of this radio and if you can reach him he can likely tell you where this connection originally was/is, good luck.

I already posted in the 356 registry looking for this location picture. members here and in the 356 registry have only shots from the front main unit. Yes! Virtaen, I think ID52V will be the same. thanks.

A quick general question... I wonder why, in older electronics, they didn't mark all + lines in red? It just seems weird to have a black + wire. Question

Actually in most automotive wiring protocols, many supply ("+") wires are black. The ignition wire in the Beetles is. Even the battery cable went to black in the early 50s. The precedent seems to be that any fused "hot" line is black, but there are exceptions.

I got a good chuckle last year, I was but a lane change turn signal relay kit in my '04 Jetta and pulled the flasher a its wires from the dash. I had to relocate the main flasher power feed line from the emergency flasher connector to the new relay socket. Its color? Black with green and white striping.

Same color as in 1950!

I'm not a 100% sure as far as your radio is concerned. I have a Motorola Big M radio and it is grounded with a wire going from the chassis to a ground on the car. All the radios I have ever had always have a chassis ground, so, I don't see why yours would be any different. I see that you are in Georgetown, Tx. I am just 5 miles south of you in Round Rock if you have any questions.

Yes, the ground is connected to power box metal frame, the radio on dash does not need any other connections than the cable from power box.
