The clone of the Inch Pincher 1 is currently residing in Sheridan, getting a Vittone-built old school motor built for the upcoming "Match Race of the Century" vs. the restored Schley Brothers "Lightning Bug" -they haven't raced each other in 45 years, and late April, at the Bug-In, they will do so again. I believe Darrell Vittone has a very nice Schwimmwagen, as well, call them and find out...Techtonics Tuning in Sheridan, OR _________________ 2003 Samba Chummie Winner- Best Story

It's getting thin on the ground around here lately; German Auto Salvage cleared out most of their older VW's several years ago, Bill Trafton sold his shop & retired (there was a huge parts stash behind the shop), and the few remaining u-pull yards don't get the air-cooled stuff like they used to .. every now & then a Beetle or Bus comes through but not often, and they're usually in very sad shape.
Always Vee-Dub on SE 50th in Portland, Halsey Import Parts on NE Halsey, Discount Import Parts on SE McLaughlin are the main go-to places for parts in the immediate area. Since you're just visiting the area, of the three I'd go to Always -- Halsey and Discount are good, but they're new-parts places without the the stash of used/rare/NOS parts that Ashley keeps around.
Farther afield, Autocraft in Salem, TT in Sheridan, and across the river in Washington, Avery's Aircooled in Kelso and possibly Autosport International in Vancouver. |

Avery's unfortunately have have moved back to Longview. Their 30,000 sqft indoor wrecking yard is no more. Most of it is packed up and away, their new location is here on their website. Talked to the owner, the city is keeping them from moving most of their stock.

I'm sure there is a lot of confusion surrounding Avery's these days and it's understandable! Yes it's moved again, We are in Kelso WA now and hope to stay here, I don't have the energy to move a yard again! We got it all moved and our inventory is growing all the time. Sorry to have read this almost 2 years later and hope we are not forgotten. Thanks, Jason at Avery's |
