I read on the Samba, along time ago, somewhere, that the spiral back john Muir How to Keep Your VW Alive manual has a cuss word in it. I don't know why I thought of it when we bought another spiral manual at a swap meet, but I did. I told my hubby about it, but I can't remember where it is. If I recall right is was the word Ass?

Does anyone remember this? If so, what page is it on. Would like to show hubby but don't want to read the whole book, and not sure if I have the right year book in the first place. Very Happy

Thanks

Thanks! Very Happy

I just checked the book and my page 1 is different. It doesn't have the pic but it has the words. Very Happy

Thanks again. I plan on collecting these. Don't know why, but going to do it anyway. LOL

Hmmm, just checked some of the newer books we have and they all have the cuss word. I could have sworn I read they took it out of the newer books and it could only be found in the spiral bound ones? Hmmmm? LOL Sure wish I could remember where I read it?

That illustration is elsewhere in the early spiral versions, but it's there (in a little simpler form). I only found the later version online to show here.

Also, it's not swearing. "Ass" is a common word for donkey, and the text that follows make it clear what Muir meant.

For those of a religious bent, this link may amuse you:

He also makes reference to "balling" in the back of a bus, if memory serves. I'd swear there is also a "damn" or two.
