Once again, a topic here has been ruined by a major participant in a thread deleting all his/her posts: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=639254
That thread had a large potential educational value, by pointing out the misinformation being promulgated (and as it has been for years) by certain sources.
Now, it is unlikely anyone will actually go thru the posts, and learn the lessons that could be learned.
All because some jackass couldn't handle being shown to be wrong on certain technical questions, it seems.
I would like to suggest that the period that users are allowed to edit their posts, without admin intervention, be greatly reduced. The posts in that thread go back nearly
a month and a half, and I think it would be extremely rare for a valid reason to exist to edit such old posts.
I've run into quite a few ruined topics on thesamba, and it is unfortunate and unnecessary. _________________ '67 bug: seized by the authorities

Yes, this happens from time to time.
We typically remove the thread, as you can see happened here.
I don't really want to shorten it anymore right now as we already have issues with people not being able to edit things that should be edited, primarily build threads.
I will check to see what the edit time is on some of other larger size web sites I use, as I am curious. _________________ How to Post Photos
