coming soon...2054!
replacing the 1600 that has been in for the last few years. this was pushed a few weeks ahead due to the 1600 breaking a clip on the rocker shaft. I mean that's what you do then right? break clip, replace with stroker motor
as a side note is my seal around the motor installed correct or are both lips supposed to be over tin. |

so this car has decided that it doesn't like me right now. the stroker motor has failed to run twice now last time due to no oil being pumped. in the mean time between machine shop trips I have replaced a few window seals and faked a set of vent windows to fit the early pivot in the door. miss my car...crazy that I long for a vehicle with no luxuries versus air conditioning and a radio... |

no that door was buckled. wasn't original to the car either. at one point in my cars life it was t boned and not fixed very well. I could only wish to have a more original car but it still has a few of its bits left. hood, gas tank, and drivers side door, speed-o...have the heart lights but no brackets..thats about all that made it thru the years. don't bother me much as i'm not to hung up on everything being perfect. I couldn't drive it like I do if it were. |

replaced the needle in my o.g. speedo
for the first time in six years I have wipers!
also added reverse light and third brake light.
still need a four tab hood ornament and the brackets for my heart lights. then all the little holes will be filled. |

I thought the brackets/bulbholder assemblies have been repro'ed by someone? If so, buy 'em and get those silly-looking later tail lights off of that early Oval! And you haven't turned up a NOS, new repro or used four tab hood logo either? You aren't shopping hard enough! Cool Oval, I really love my June '55 Sunroof, great driving Beetles.

yes the missing pieces are repoped. its been more of a money issue. blowing motors and transaxles gets expensive. with the ol guy running great now I will be able to make it more presentable. the really late model lights came off a couple of years ago and were replaces with snowflakes. not correct but closer.
money probably wouldn't be an issue if I could stay focused on one project. lol |
