Thanks
Think I've tracked down the lower sill mouldings I need as well...can be quite tricky to track Type 3 parts down in the UK. I'll hopefully be sorting those soon, then rebuilding my fuel pump at some point over winter (it seeps a little fuel round the fastening screws). _________________ 1971 Iberian Red UK Type 3 Fastback

Things are on a bit of a go slow with winter on its way... Just checking everything is safely stored away to save it from the weather.

Sods law...checking car over yesterday ahead of the MOT, took it for a spin, exhaust starts blowing on way home...Oh well, MOT moved back, makes me pull my finger out to get the Cyclone on
It does sound quite cool though, currently lol _________________ 1971 Iberian Red UK Type 3 Fastback

Ok so I've got a Cyclone exhaust setup on now.
Going to see if there's any rescuing this:

That's an interesting way they built that muffler set up. I really like the way they flanged the "pre-heaters" to the muffler. Something like that would work really nice with the Vintage Speed set up, if they moved the upper flanges a little.
I'm glad you like the tone of the new set up. It'll take a little getting used to, but I think you'll like it in the end. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

Got another 12months ticket... no advisories (I'm dubious lol). The car did it's best to give me panic attacks, blew a tail light bulb as I fired it up this morning, then blew a fuse taking out hte front marker lights... luckily I had some spares with me.
New exhaust is bedding in nicely, it;s loud, but not too loud. not sure my dad is a fan though! hah _________________ 1971 Iberian Red UK Type 3 Fastback

Been a while since I updated, but recently it had to have new calipers as the old ones were extremely crusty and sticking on.
I've also just organised my first UK VW show, Dubworth, here at Oulton Park Race Circuit. Took some pics around the track as I had the place pretty much to myself and the team whilst we were setting up. I couldn't resist sticking mine out for display on the field, even if I wasn't eligible for judging

Few updates in the last few months:
Had the dreaded airbox leak!
Made the cut
Cleaned it, treated it
Protected it
Got it sealed up
Had a break for a beer

Got hold of some sill mouldings, hit up a few shows:
Topped up my cavity waxing
Next up, get a little bit of inner sill welding on passenger side, as well as sorting out a few scabby bits on the wing

Damn, that's really looking good. Glad you're out driving it and taking it to shows. Have fun with it. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

Thanks guys, hopefully have some more progress early October on that passenger wing, after that it's pretty much getting laid up in its nice dry garage over winter to spare it the wet, salted roads we have here over winter. _________________ 1971 Iberian Red UK Type 3 Fastback

I got my passenger wing repaired, although during this time I was also having a new kitchen fitted at home, so got the car back, put it in the garage thinking "I'll pull that out and get pics later...", then promptly left it in the nice dry garage to save it from the salt and damp of UK roads in winter. So will clean it and get pics towards the end of February maybe. No point disturbing its hibernation just yet
I must admit, apart from occasionally checking the car is ok and the various dehumidifier boxes I have in the car are ok, I haven't done much since parking it up for winter. I've hunted down a few small parts I was missing/had incorrect items fitted but that's about it.
Had a nice surprise yesterday when Volksworld popped through my letterbox though, cheeky pic in the VW Action 40th coverage

Bit of a catch up, finally got a nice set of window cranks that I was looking for
And the Clamshells for the door handles:
And a NOS set of fasteners for the intake bellows (mine are missing):
And have some vent shades for summer:
I'm planning to clean out and re-waxoyl the door cavities and redo the plastic lining, as I was never happy with the job I made of it last time, so I've got some fresh plastic sheeting ready for that too. _________________ 1971 Iberian Red UK Type 3 Fastback

Got the car out of storage last weekend to check it over ahead of its MOT:
Fitted the clips to the air intake bellows:
Fitted new leads as I realised I have t ever done this, car was missing a little on Rickover and thought this was a good first step:
I also cleaned out and refilled the oil bath filter. It was at this point I noticed the fuel hose fitting to the carbs was loose. On closer inspection the fuel hose is all cracked. This is less than 2 year old R9 hose o purchased from Machine 7 :/
Slightly worrying, needless to say the car is still in bits and I've ordered some biofuel hose to replace it all with, I don't fancy an engine bay fire!
I also noticed one of the rubber joins on my air filter was split. I've taped it for now but will look to source a pair of new ones, both look old and quite Hard/brittle. _________________ 1971 Iberian Red UK Type 3 Fastback

Essential old VW supplies... Bio Fuel hose, fresh fuel hose clips...and a roll of duck tape!
Realistically won't get chance to fit the new hose til end of month when I have a day off, so MOT has been cancelled for now til that is sorted
